But then I might have to spend my $20 bucks a couple of times to get the right one. I'm sure I could just take a guess and go from there. Mc Carr basically has them from 1 to 45 degree. I'm sure I could just wing a 1/4" end mill and file it to match, but that's kind of time consuming since I have to do a bunch of these. But it's kind of hard to figure the angle on the spline slots. I got a rotary table and tail so I don't have any problem with that. I have to cut 6 1/16" splines in the 1 inch shaft. That way I can just order a tapered end mill from McMaster Carr. So I'm trying to figure out the angle on the involute splines in the gear. Works OK, but I'm worried that the torque on it might just eventually shear the key off. I couldn't find a cheap splint shaft so I just put a keyed 7/8" shaft inside with a key.
